Ethan Caldwell is the editor of Free Cash Calculator. He answers for every calculator and guide on the site, from what gets built to how it is explained.
What Ethan does
Ethan decides which money questions the site takes on next and how each calculator explains its answer. He is also the person who answers for every page. If a number, an assumption or a sentence turns out to be wrong, fixing it is his job.
He does not give personal financial advice. Each calculator shows how the numbers work, with the formula and a worked example on the page, so you can run your own situation and take the result to a professional when the stakes are high.
How his pages are checked
Every calculator draws on one shared math library, tested against independent reference implementations before a page goes live and again on every build. The date in each byline is the last time that page's math was checked. The full process is on how we check the math.
